The Iron Age is a period of change in the Oman peninsula. Iron itself is coming quite late into the area as the local copper was expoloited and used most. In this period the Falaj is invented and farming communities are rising everywhere. In Ras al-Khaimah the largest sites are known from the southern enclave in the Wadi al-Qawr. A British Excavation surveyed and excavated several settlements and tombs. The most important tombs were located in Fashgha, Wa'ab and Naslah. These are large communal graves built with a subterranean chamber. The tombs were rich in large soft stone vessels, which might indicate, that they were produced nearby.
