The Wadi Suq Period (2000-1600 BC)

The Wadi Suq Period is of major importance for the history of Ras al-Khaimah. In the back of the fertile oasis along the foot of the mountains archaeologists found several cemeteries, which date back to this period. In Shimal one of the largest prehistoric cemeteries of the Oman peninsula was discovered and several tombs were excavated since. The tombs have a megalithic character and were used as communal graves.
The material culture in those tombs is very distinct and comprises of painted beakers and spouted jars made, softstone vessels and lids and bronze items like spearheads, daggers and rings.
